Public Notice: 2026-27 Trial Court Allocations and Workload Formula
The following notice is provided in accordance with the California Rule of Court 10.620(f), which governs public access to administrative decisions of the trial courts, and requires each court to provide public notice no later than 15 court days after receiving the annual allocation of the trial court budget from the Judicial Council following enactment of the budget act.
The fiscal year (FY) 2026–27 Trial Court Trust Fund (TCTF) and General Fund allocations for trial court operations were approved by the Judicial Council at its business meeting on July 17, 2026. Following the council’s approval, Judicial Council Budget Services distributed the FY 2026–27 allocation workbook to support transparency and provide the courts with detailed reference materials. The workbook includes two primary worksheets (attachment B & C of the first link below) outlining the approved allocations and associated calculations:
- “TC Allocations” Worksheet. This worksheet displays the FY 2026–27 base and non-base allocations for each trial court. It also includes general ledger numbers associated with each allocation. Columns V and W identify non-TCTF allocations.
- “WF Allocation” Worksheet. This worksheet displays the FY 2026–27 Workload Formula allocation (column W), the Workload Formula “need” (column X), and the percentage funding levels for all courts (column Y).
In addition, the FY 2026–27 Workload Formula “need” workbook is provided. This supplemental workbook includes the Bureau of Labor Statistics data, Resource Assessment Study inputs, and full-time equivalent calculations used to determine statewide workload need.
To comply with Americans with Disabilities Act digital and web accessibility requirements, the format of the workbooks has been modified from prior years’ reports. These changes ensure continued accessibility and usability for all court stakeholders.
